The City of Grand Prairie is committed to creating a more sustainable future by reducing emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and supporting environmental initiatives.

Below are key actions the city is taking to promote sustainability.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability logo
  • Member of ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability which is a global network committed to sustainable urban development.
  • View the City of Grand Prairie's efforts in the Climate Action Plan(PDF, 2MB).
  • Conducted a Greenhouse Gas Emissions inventory on city operations.
  • Allocated funds from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program which will be used to install solar powered electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Supporting partner of North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) in obtaining Climate Pollution Reduction Grants that will fund projects to improve air quality in the region.
  • Continuing efforts to electrify fleet.
