Grand Prairie Emergency Management Mission

Emergency Management is the organization charged with creating the framework which helps our city reduce vulnerability to hazards and responds to disasters. Grand Prairie accomplishes this by maintaining a hazard vulnerability assessment / emergency action plan, an all-hazards operation plan with 22 functional annexes, a multi-year training and exercise program, and the management of various State and Federal Homeland Security grants.

In addition, we have endeavored to make Grand Prairie one of the most advanced with our new outdoor warning siren system. Our sirens are solar powered, can be activated at a moment’s notice of hazardous conditions, and provide over 95% coverage. Emergency Management has participated in and coordinated various deployments statewide to assist our fellow Texans in times of need.
