Under this statute, the “Personal Information” you can request for disclosure is your name, address, volume or units of your utility usage, amounts billed to or collected from you for utility usage and service periods.
Once your request is received and processed, the City will remove the confidential flag on your account. You may rescind your request for disclosure by providing the City written permission to reinstate the confidential flag for your account.
Accounts without written disclosure will remain confidential unless it is requested by one of the following persons or entities permitted by law to obtain the information: 1) an official or employee of the state, a political subdivision of the state, or the United States acting in an official capacity; 2) an employee of the utility acting in connection with the employee’s duties; 3) a consumer reporting agency; 4) a contractor or subcontractor approved by and providing services to the utility, the state, a political subdivision of the state, or the United States; 5) another entity that provides water, wastewater, sewer, gas, electricity, or drainage services for compensation.
Other laws also protect social security numbers. The City will not release your social security number unless required by law.
