The City of Grand Prairie adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate.The tax rate will effectively be raised by 2.13 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $-.22. In accordance with Tax Code § 26.05(b)(2).
The Grand Prairie Local Government Corporation has been created for the purpose of aiding, assisting, and acting on behalf of the City of Grand Prairie in the performance of its governmental functions to promote the common good and general welfare of the City on behalf of the City, the promotion of economic development, the acquisition, development and redevelopment of real property within the City, the construction and/or operation of City facilities; and to perform such other governmental purposes of the City as may be determined from time to time by the Grand Prairie City Council.
Four members: a majority must live in Grand Prairie; appointed by City Council.
