Garage Sale Permits

Step 1.Review Requirements

• Garage sales can only be held at occupied residential property.
• All Garage Sale Permits are online only. 
• There is a limit of two (2) garage sales at a premise during any twelve (12) month period, and each sale may not exceed more than three (3) consecutive calendar days in length.
• Six signs are allowed upon the lot where the sale is taking place. All signs shall have the permit number written in the top right hand corner and shall not be placed on utility poles or in medians. All signs shall be placed as not to obstruct or impair the view of vehicular or pedestrian traffic and shall be immediately removed at the conclusion of the sale.
• Signs must be removed after sale.

Step 2.Apply Online

You must apply online for a Garage Sale Permit through the City of Grand Prairie's website, GPTX.ORG. First time users will need a valid email address or cell phone number to set up an account. It takes about 5 minutes to create a new account.

Step 3.No Printing Necessary

As of August 21, 2026, all Garage Sale Permit applications go through a review process. Please allow 24 hours if during the week, and 72 hours if during the weekend to verify your Garage Sale Permit. You will receive an email or text, depending on which method you selected, providing information for your permit. There is no longer a need to print a permit!
