On Wednesday, October 4, FEMA, in coordination with the FCC, will conduct a nationwide test of its Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA).

The purpose of the test is to ensure that each system continues to effectively warn the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level. Grand Prairie will get the test that is scheduled to begin at approximately 1:20 PM on 10/4.

In case the Oct. 4 test is postponed due to widespread severe weather or other significant events, the backup testing date is 10/11.
