Mobile Food Truck Permit

Apply

Step 1.Important Information - Changes to Your Mobile Food Permit Effective July 1, 2026

Effective July 1, 2026, due to Texas House Bill 2844 (2025), all mobile food unit operators are required to obtain a license issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to continue operating within the State of Texas. The new rules include operators participating at temporary events, farmer’s markets, flea markets, etc. Permits issued by local jurisdictions prior to this date will no longer be valid for operation on or after July 1, 2026.

All mobile food unit operators are responsible for monitoring regulatory updates and ensuring compliance with applicable state and local requirements, including the timely submission of any required applications, fees, and supporting documentation to DSHS. Operating without a state license is a citable offense.

All vendors must still comply with all state and local laws including all fire codes, location restrictions, and zoning codes.
