Development Applications

Development applications, also referred to as cases, require approval by city governing bodies – the Planning & Zoning Commission, City Council, and/or the Zoning Board of Adjustments. City staff will evaluate the submitted application to ensure that it conforms to the Comprehensive Plan, Unified Development Code, Design Guidelines and all other laws and regulations.

New Online Application Process

The City of Grand Prairie implemented new software on August 16, which changes the way that you submit development requests to the Planning Division. Moving forward, we will only be accepting applications online through the new Customer Self-Service portal.

The Planning Division hosted virtual demonstrations of the new software to show how to apply for development requests and monitor the status of your request as it moves through staff review and Planning and Zoning Commission/City Council approval.
