What is SBE certification?
SBE certification is issued by a recognized independent certification agency based on established eligibility requirements. The City of Grand Prairie does not certify businesses.
Should I become certified?
Certification may be useful if you plan to pursue eligible City procurements or want to increase visibility with other municipal buyers. It may not be needed for every business.
How much does certification cost?
Fees and processing times are set by each certification agency and may change. Contact the agency directly for current information.
Which certification agencies are recognized?
The City recognizes certifications from NCTRCA (NCTRCA.org), DFWBC (DFWCouncil.com), WBCSW (WBCSouthwest.org), VetHUB, and TxDOT, as well as other City-approved certifying agencies. (add all links)
Only qualified, currently certified SBEs can receive eligible bid evaluation preferences. Certification must remain valid during the contract. See the Approved SBE Certification Agencies handout for details.
