The City of Grand Prairie adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate.The tax rate will effectively be raised by 2.13 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $-.22. In accordance with Tax Code § 26.05(b)(2).

Fire Fatality At approximately 5:46 a.m., Grand Prairie Fire Department crews were dispatched to a structure fire in the 2100 block of El Paso St. On arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming through a window and were notified of one possible victim trapped inside. Crews quickly began a primary search and were able to locate one adult female victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
