A tax rate of $0.660000 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of the City of Grand Prairie. A public hearing on the proposed tax rate will be held during the City Council Meeting at 6:30 p.m. on September 15, 2026, at 300 W. Main St., Grand Prairie, TX 75050.

Construction is well underway on the EpicCentral development just west of SH 161 between Arkansas Lane and Warrior Trail. The development will include hotels, a convention center, restaurants and an outdoor open space with a covered stage for events, concerts and programs along with interactive technology for entertainment. At night, visitors will be able to enjoy a light show in the adjacent lake. One EpicCentral restaurant is already open—Chicken N Pickle. Hotel and restaurant estimated opening dates are as follows:
• Loop 9 BBQ – opening late summer 2022
• Vidorra Cocina de Mexico restaurant – opening fall 2022
• The Finch neighborhood restaurant and bar – opening fall 2022
• Serious Pizza, Sliders and Shakes – opening winter 2022
• Poach’d breakfast/brunch restaurant – opening early 2023
• Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites – opening fall 2023
• 13,000-square-foot convention center – opening fall 2023
