Junior Ezeonu Appointed to National League of Cities' REAL Council

Junior Ezeonu, Grand Prairie City Councilman At Large, has been appointed to the National League of Cities' (NLC) 2023 Race Equity and Leadership (REAL) Council. This prestigious appointment grants Ezeonu a one-year term to develop and guide programs for local elected officials from communities with similar demographics. The announcement was made by NLC President, Mayor Victoria Woodards of Tacoma, Washington.

Expressing his gratitude, Ezeonu stated, "I am honored to serve. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow committee members as we work towards creating meaningful programs that drive change and provide guidance for local governments."

Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen expressed pride in Ezeonu's selection, highlighting his experience, insight, education, open mind, and open heart, which have proven invaluable to the city of Grand Prairie.

As a member of NLC's REAL Council, Ezeonu will play a crucial role alongside a diverse group of local leaders, fostering collaboration, networking, and the development of resources and programs that benefit communities with shared demographics, size, or location. The goal is to create replicable initiatives that can be implemented across the country.

NLC President Mayor Victoria Woodards of Tacoma, Washington stated, "Our member councils give voice to what's happening on the ground in our communities. The leadership of this year's council will consist of Co-Chairs Councilmember Andrea Barefield from Waco, TX, and Mayor Steve Patterson from Athens, OH, with Co-Vice Chairs Councilmember D'Andre Jones from Fayetteville, AR, and Mayor Pro-Tem Ty Stober from Vancouver, WA.
