Grand Prairie Fire Department’s first presence at the Grand Prairie Municipal Airport was in 1969 with a one room building that housed firefighting equipment. In 1988, Fire Station 5 was opened on airport grounds to provide 24-hour staffing. Now, in present day, this station is home to the Hazardous Materials Response Team with state-of-the-art equipment. Housed at Fire Station 5 is an Engine Company, Truck Company, and Squad 5.
