In 1949, Grand Prairie's first permanent fire station was built on West Main Street. Although starting with humble beginnings, Fire Station 1 has always been the heart of the Grand Prairie Fire Department. In 2014, Fire Station 1 was rebuilt and relocated near its original location. It is home to an Engine Company, Truck Company, Mobile Intensive Care Unit, and Air Truck. Additionally, it is the location of the confined space and high-angle rescue team of the Grand Prairie Fire Department.
