A tax rate of $0.660000 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of the City of Grand Prairie. A public hearing on the proposed tax rate will be held during the City Council Meeting at 6:30 p.m. on September 15, 2026, at 300 W. Main St., Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
The Engineering Division is responsible for developing standards and issuance of permits to franchised utility companies (electric, telephone, gas, cable TV, etc.) that use city right-of-way or easements for installation of their facilities. The Engineering Division ensures installation of franchised facilities are correctly located within the right-of-way and that the right-of-way is restored to acceptable condition.
A city released Traffic Control Plan shall be required for any lane closures, and submitted with the notification. More information on requirements is listed on the Franchise Utility Permit Form(PDF, 75KB).

After completing the online application, permits are processed in approximately 3-5 business days. Depending on updates needed from the applicant, as this can result in longer approval times.
There is no fee for a Franchise Utility Permit.
