Grand Prairie Renames Cesar Chavez / Dolores Huerta Holiday

In response to the concerning allegations against Cesar Chavez, on Wednesday the Grand Prairie City Council voted to rename the March 31, 2026 Cesar Chavez / Dolores Huerta Holiday to Dolores Huerta Day.

The City Council also approved removing the March 31 holiday from the 2027 City calendar and establishing a yearly Dolores Huerta Holiday on April 10 beginning in 2027.

The City of Grand Prairie has been named Air North Texas Partner of the Year 2025 for its exceptional efforts to improve regional air quality. This is the second year in a row that Grand Prairie has won this award and the 11th time in 19 years.
