How It’s Made GP: Coffee
Published on February 20, 2026
For this episode of How It’s Made, we stepped inside one of Grand Prairie’s most celebrated local spots —
Billie Joe Coffee Co. — to see what really happens between green coffee beans and that first smooth sip of espresso.
Owner and founder Billy Brown walked us through the craft, the science, and the passion behind every batch.
What began as a small booth at the Grand Prairie Farmers Market, selling freshly roasted beans, has since grown into a beloved local café. In 2021, founder Billie Joe Brown turned his passion into a brick-and-mortar space, serving small-batch specialty coffee.
In 2025, Billie Joe Coffee
earned a spot on Yelp’s Top 100 Coffee Shops in America list — the only shop in North Texas to make the cut. It’s a milestone that has officially put this hometown favorite on the national coffee map.
Every cup starts long before roasting. Beans travel thousands of miles from farms around the world, shaped by climate, soil, and careful cultivation.
Inside the roaster, coined “Goldie,” heat transforms dense green beans into aromatic coffee. Fresh grinding, proper brewing, and even water quality play a role in a great cup of joe.
You can find Billie Joe Coffee Co. between IKEA and Bass Pro Shops — just south of EpicCentral — at 1015 IKEA Pl, Suite 200.
