The City of Grand Prairie is excited to announce a new partnership with The Texas Golf Association that will enhance adaptive golf programming and opportunities for people with disabilities.

The collaboration will play a pivotal role in championing accessibility and enabling individuals with cognitive, health, physical and sensory challenges to participate in the game and share in the joy and excitement golf provides with others.

“Bringing adaptive golf programs to Grand Prairie is about more than just the game – it’s about accessibility, connection, and community," said Ray Cerda, Director of The City of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department.  "This partnership allows us to showcase how our facilities can serve all golfers while inspiring others to embrace the sport in new and meaningful ways. We’re thrilled to be part of something new, and as we like to say, we’re ‘Grand Prairie Proud!’"

As part of its support, the City will provide space at its Prairie Lakes Golf Course for the TGA to stage complimentary, one-hour group adaptive golf clinics in May and October. These inclusive sessions are open to individuals who have a physical, sensory or learning disability, no matter what their circumstances or golfing experience. The clinics will be led by certified adaptive golf coaches that will provide hands-on instruction tailored to the needs and abilities of the participants.

“Holding these accessible adaptive golf clinics at Prairie Lakes, in partnership with the City of Grand Prairie, illustrates our shared commitment to making golf a fun and inclusive activity for everyone,” said Kelly Kilgo, Managing Director of TGA Foundation/Outreach.  “We want to reduce the barriers that prevent people from playing golf, and our clinics provide a relaxed environment to take this further. We encourage any individual with a physical, sensory, or learning disability to sign up for the sessions, have fun and learn from some great coaches.”

The first TGA Adaptive Golf Clinic will take place at Prairie Lakes Golf Course on Monday, May 12, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Anyone with a disability who would like to take part in the session at Prairie Lakes, is encouraged to sign up.
