Atmos Projects in Grand Prairie
The City of Grand Prairie and our State Legislators have been outspoken regarding recent failures by Atmos in delivering the proper levels of service to citizens in some areas of Grand Prairie.  While many of the needed upgrades were already in progress, the recent cold weather event in December of last year prompted further discussions with Atmos resulting in an escalation of the completion of improved infrastructure and back-up CNG trucks deployed during high usage time frames.

To improve gas pressure delivery and consistency during cold weather events and help eliminate outages, Atmos is completing work at the following locations involving two major line fortifications in Grand Prairie and the surrounding area:

  1. 8,200 feet along streets of Cook, Britton, South Holland, Seeton
  2. 5,700 feet along Seeton
  3. 139 feet along Westchester, Glen and Polo
  4. 235 feet along Chandra

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Trucks
Atmos Energy uses CNG trucks as a backup energy system to keep natural gas flowing during extreme cold weather, when there is maintenance work, or when natural gas supplies are at their lowest. You may see these trucks in your neighborhood when the weather is very cold—ready to be used when needed.
