Councilwoman Adams Joins NLC Youth & Environment Committees

Bessye Adams, City Council At Large Place 7, Grand Prairie TX has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2024 Youth, Education, and Families Council and the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee.

Councilwoman Adams was elected to a one-year term in the Youth, Education, and Families Council to develop and guide programs among local elected officials from similar communities.

“This council exemplifies the essence of all communities across America, and especially Grand Prairie, TX! Our youth, education, and families are the fiber of our community. I am honored to represent the citizens of Grand Prairie on this national platform.” 

As a member of NLC’s (Youth, Education, and Families Council), Councilwoman Adams will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country.

“Our member councils play an integral role in NLC’s work, bringing local leaders together to share ideas and inform NLC policy about the issues and challenges facing every kind of community in America,” said NLC President Mayor David Sander of Rancho Cordova, CA. “I’m excited to have Congresswoman Adams serve on NLC's Youth, Education, and Families Council. The council will ensure that all of our cities, towns and villages have access to ideas and resources they can use to thrive.” 

Councilwoman Adams was also elected to the Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Committee for a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on sustainability, climate change, community resilience, water infrastructure, solid waste management and more.
