Jacquin Headen, Grand Prairie City Council Member for District 2, has been appointed to serve on the National League of Cities (NLC) Community and Economic Development (CED) federal advisory committee.

She was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation, and international competitiveness.

The CED committee also leads efforts in support of federal grant programs that support these activities, including the Community Development Block Grant program.

“I congratulate Jacquin on her appointment to this very important committee, and I can’t think of anyone better suited to the role,” said Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen. “She has the skills, hard work, compassion, and talent that will benefit this committee on a federal level, just as these attributes have benefited Grand Prairie.”

“Economic development has been my focus and passion since being elected. I have innovative ideas on ways to approach economic development that I look forward to bringing to this federal advocacy committee, said Jacquin. “Through my training and certifications on topics related to economic development and retail, I am primed to serve in this area. This is also a great opportunity to learn from my fellow committee members what other cities are doing in this space, and to bring back further ideas for the growth of Grand Prairie. “

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are a key tool for gathering insights directly from the communities that our members serve,” said NLC President Mayor Victoria Woodards of Tacoma, Washington. “I am excited to have Jacquin serve on the CEC committee and look forward to working with her to ensure every city, town and village in this nation has the resources they need to thrive.”

The leadership of this year’s council will consist of:

  • Chair Tishaura Jones, Mayor City of St. Louis, MO
  • Vice Chair: Patricia Lock Dawson, Mayor, City of Riverside, CA
  • Vice Chair: Lacey Beaty, Mayor, City of Beaverton, OR
