The Black Experience 2026
Celebrating Black History Month in Grand Prairie
Each February, Grand Prairie comes together to honor Black history, culture, and community through The Black Experience, a citywide series of events designed to educate, inspire, and connect residents of all ages.
Now in its second year, The Black Experience 2026 builds on the momentum of its inaugural celebration, expanding programming across health, arts, education, faith, family, and economic empowerment. Hosted in partnership with the Grand Prairie Black History Commission, this month-long observance invites everyone to experience meaningful moments of reflection, celebration, and community engagement throughout February.
A Community-Centered Celebration
The Black Experience recognizes the lasting contributions of Black individuals and families who have shaped Grand Prairie’s past and continue to strengthen its future. From civic leaders and entrepreneurs to artists, educators, and everyday residents, these stories are woven into the fabric of our city.
Created through a community-driven vision and supported by City leadership, The Black Experience provides spaces where history is honored, culture is celebrated, and connections are built. The 2025 inaugural series welcomed hundreds of attendees, and The Black Experience 2026 is expected to engage thousands more through a lineup of programs and experiences.
