2023 Beautify Texas Outstanding Program Award

Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful won the 2023 Beautify Texas Outstanding Program Award for The Big Event. The Outstanding Program award recognizes contributions by civic organizations and city, county, and state government departments, divisions, or agencies that support the Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) mission through a distinct and continual program.

The city of Grand Prairie contributes to the KTB mission of inspiring and empowering Texans to keep our communities clean and beautiful by hosting the annual Grand Prairie Big Event. The Big Event inspires community members to join forces in the battle against litter and blight by encouraging group and individual volunteer registrations. With neighbors helping neighbors – across race, religion, and socioeconomic status, the unity in our community grows.  

The Big Event empowers community members by providing vetted job assignments for volunteers and providing the needed tools to complete their jobs. The Big Event empowers community members by providing an honorable way to request free, no-strings-attached assistance, when in need.  

The Big Event supports the KTB vision of making “Texas the cleanest, most beautiful state in the nation,” by assigning volunteers to parks for litter removal after the residential projects have been covered. The annual deep clean that the parks receive is in addition to the weekly maintenance cleanup that they already receive.

About the Beautify Texas Awards 

The Beautify Texas Awards recognize efforts made by individuals and organizations to enhance their communities and protect Texas’ environment. These awards range in honoring extraordinary volunteers, professionals, youth, educators, businesses, local/civic governments, organizations, and specific projects and programs.
