Belt Line Road to State Highway 161

Construction of a new four lane divided concrete roadway which will contain two bridges; sidewalks, storm drain and traffic signal improvements.

Expected to End: Early Fall 2025

West Tarrant Road at Arbor Creek Paving, Drainage, Water and Wastewater Improvements

The purpose of the West Tarrant Road at the Arbor Creek project is to elevate the roadway at Arbor Creek and replace the inadequate capacity box culverts with a 150-foot-long bridge to provide capacity to safely convey the 100-year flood event. The project involves removal of the existing box culvert crossing, pavement and sidewalk, wastewater main relocations, water line relocations, storm drain improvements, embankment and retaining wall construction, new bridge construction and paving and sidewalk improvements.

Expected End Date: June 2026

New traffic signals, sidewalk, ADA ramps and pavement markings.

New traffic signal, fiber optics, sidewalk, ADA ramps, pavement for a new left-turn lane and pavement markings.

Duncan Perry Road North of Kingsley

Relocation of a wastewater line which is in anticipation of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) project for the reconstruction of the bridge over Johnson Creek for Duncan Perry Road which is a separate project that is expected to begin in the spring of 2026. Traffic along Duncan Perry Road may be impacted during the wastewater line construction.

Along Interstate 30 from SH 161 to Macarthur Blvd and SH 180 from NW 23^rd St to Jonathan Dr

Project includes Furnishing and installing Dynamic Messaging Signs (DMS) and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras along IH 30 and SH 180. This allows for visual monitoring of traffic flow and incidents along the corridors which will allow staff to make signal timing changes, as needed, and the ability to post messages on the DMS to inform motorists of incidents ahead and direct them to detour routes, if necessary.

E. Avenue K at SH 360

Construction of designated westbound right-turn lane at Avenue K and SH 360. Project will also include roadway drainage modifications, signal modification and utility relocation.

State Highway 161 to Cimmaron Trace to include the intersection of Jefferson and Carrier Parkway

Reconstruction of the existing asphalt to a concrete roadway. Construction will include paving, street lighting, storm drainage, sidewalks, and traffic signals. 

Expected Start Date: Fall 2025

Expected End Date: Late 2026

Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of E. Main Street/Jefferson Street. This project improves the intersection operations while routing westbound truck traffic from Main Street to Jefferson Street.

Grand Prairie residents voted to increase the city's sales tax by one quarter of one cent to repair existing streets and alleys throughout the city.

The Street Maintenance Sales Tax fund provides the resources for the maintenance and replacement of existing city streets and alleys.
