Programs

In addition to continued improvements to sidewalks, parking, lighting, streetscaping, traffic signals for crosswalks, and review of the Unified Development Code, the City also offers the following programs to help downtown business development.

World Class Audit Program

Businesses never get a second chance to make a first impression, and great curb appeal attracts customers. The City of Grand Prairie’s World Class Audit allows business owners and city representatives to brainstorm ideas for improving exterior aesthetics and storefronts.

The goal of the program is to create an inviting business exterior to attract more customers, while providing a public benefit by redeveloping downtown Grand Prairie. Business owners will evaluate exterior and interior elements of their property. The Community Revitalization Unit will also conduct the same evaluation. City representatives will offer helpful tips for creating a welcoming, attractive, dynamic, attention-grabbing business appearance.

Business owners in the city’s Central Business District 2 may be eligible for a grant if both parties agree that an improvement idea is feasible and within the downtown Grand Prairie vision. For information on how to apply for the grant, contact the Community Development Unit at 972-237-8036 or 972-237-8063.

Restaurant Program

Economic development incentives may be available to prospective restaurant owners and downtown building owners to locate, relocate or expand one-of-a-kind, family-owned restaurants in privately-owned downtown building spaces. Applications are available for download(PDF, 201KB)  or may be picked up in the Economic Development Department, 300 W. Main St., 75050.
