Volunteer with KGPB

Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful depends on volunteers to help make Grand Prairie the cleanest, greenest, most beautiful place to live, work, and play.

Adopt-A-Street

We need volunteers to assist with picking up litter from the side of the roads that have not yet been adopted. We provide the necessary supplies.

You can also choose to adopt a street by selecting a section of roadway to pick up litter a few times a year. Volunteers are asked to clean their street four times a year but are only required to turn in three cleanup reports.  Cleanup includes both sides of the streets and medians and 12 feet from the back of the curb.

Adopt-A-Stream

The Trinity River and its tributaries run through Grand Prairie, providing habitat for our native wildlife and recreation through fishing and boating opportunities. Unfortunately, these streams can become polluted with litter. The majority of this litter is made up of plastic bottles, plastic bags, and Styrofoam. This litter is called 'floatables' because the majority of it floats on the surface of the water creating an eyesore for the community. You can volunteer with stream cleanups during the stream cleanup season which runs from mid-October through mid-March each year.

Adopt-A-Cemetery

The Adopt-A-Cemetery program is a cooperative effort between the city, our residents, business owners, clubs, and organizations to keep our cemeteries clean and beautiful. An Adopt-A-Cemetery event generally includes picking up litter and fallen branches.

GP Litter Team

The GP Litter Team assists with preventing litter at city events. Volunteers work in shifts to ensure that litter ends up in the right bins.

KGPB Public Outreach and Events

Recruit new community gardeners and share your love for gardening by volunteering at Community Gardens or special events.

Storm Drain Labeling

Storm Drain Labeling allows volunteers the opportunity to create awareness about the importance of protecting creek water quality, and storm water pollution. Many people do not realize that the water that flows into the storm drain goes directly to our creeks and is untreated. Anything other than water flowing down the storm drain is a pollutant. Make an impact by labeling a drain near you.  Call 972-237-8060 to find out more.

Texas Stream Team

Grand Prairie’s Texas Stream Team is dedicated to understanding and protecting the Grand Prairie waterways. We bring together community members, students, educators, and  environmental professionals to conduct scientific research and to promote environmental stewardship.
