Farmers Market: Free Pumpkin Giveaway

Date: 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14

Location: Market Square, 120 W. Main St.

Grand Prairie Farmers Market is giving away free pumpkins! The first 75 families will each receive a free pumpkin with additional market purchase, while supplies last. (No rain checks. Limit one per family.)

Pumpkin Run

Date: 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14

Location: Lynn Creek Park, 5610 Lake Ridge Pkwy

The 31st annual Pumpkin Run presented by the Grand Prairie Metro Rotary Club has fall fitness and fun for the whole family! A 1-mile fun run will kick-start the event at 8 a.m. followed by a 10K run and 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m. Receive a FREE "Waffle Way" pancake breakfast with bacon from Outlaws Bar-B-Que, free blood pressure checks, cash awards and more! 


Spooky Sprint 5K, 10K Run/Walk

Date: 8 a.m. - 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 21

Location: Mike Lewis Park, 2450 N. Carrier Pkwy

Cost to enter: $32

Run for fun and help GP United Charities scrub out the cobwebs....bring a personal hygiene product for the donation! (shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, etc.).  The whole family can have a horrifically good time.  Dress up to win the best costume prizes.  Kids dash will start us off and prizes will be awarded for winning times in the different age groups.  Strollers and walkers are welcome.  It's all about the bling.  Every runner gets awesome shirt and medal!  


Pumpkin Swim

Date: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24

Location: Kirby Creek Natatorium, 3201 Corn Valley Rd.

Cost: $3 per person

Come swim with hundreds of pumpkins and choose your own to decorate! There will also be a bounce house and face painting.

Forest of Fear

Dates: Oct. 20 & 21, Oct. 27 & 28

Time: Dusk until 10 p.m.

Location: Loyd Park, 3401 Ragland Rd.

One of the best displays of Halloween spirit in Texas, Loyd Park's Forest of Fear witnesses the transformation of a campground into a drive-through of creative Halloween displays. Drive through on your own, or ride one of our hayrides. Hayrides are available on Saturdays Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 and run until the line is gone or 10 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase at the Camp Store. If you want to book a campsite (must be decorated!), do so quickly as available sites are extremely limited.

Creep Fest 2017

Date: 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27

Location: Main Library, 901 Conover Drive

Do you love the chills you get watching a scary movie? Are you having trouble finding friends who like horror films and scary stories as much as you do? Come to the Main Library's Creep Fest 2017, and meet up with other horror enthusiasts to watch short horror films, play horror trivia, and talk about favorite cult classics. Dress up in your goriest garb to enter the costume contest!

Street N' Treat

Date: 6 p.m. - 8p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31

Location: Grand Prairie Farmers Market, 120 W. Main St. 

Join us for a fun and enjoyable Halloween event in Grand Prairie! Participants will enjoy FREE games and trick-or-treat in Market Square. Prepare to dress to impress, ask “Trick-or-Treat” and bring a large bucket for candy!

Brew & Barbecue Fest

 This event is going to feature award-winning barbecue cooks cooking up some of the best barbecue brisket and ribs on both days. Guest will be able to buy this barbecue AND have a chance to listen to some great country music. Chris Rivers and his country band will perform from 12 noon to 4 p.m. each day.

During band breaks the cooks will visit with the audience to provide some tips on what helped them win barbecue cook-offs all over Texas and the southwest. This festival will have something for everyone.The event will take place under the cover of the BIG RED PATIO on the East side of the market, come rain or shine.

Admission to Traders Village is FREE and it’s just $4.00 to park.
