Grand Prairie Historical Organization Meeting

  • Date: 02/21/2019 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Location: Main Library
    901 Conover Drive
    Grand Prairie, Texas 75051
  • Introduction: While the GPHO Museum is closed for remodeling, we will meet at the Main Library to learn about Alexander McRae Dechman.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the February meeting of the Grand Prairie Historical Organization where you will hear the organization's historian/archivist Stephanie Moreno recall the history of the City of Grand Prairie through the actual words of Alexander MacRae Dechman himself.

You will learn about Mr. Dechman, his family, and his recollections of his life at the time he purchased the land he would call the town of Dechman, later renamed Grand Prairie. The February meeting is sandwiched between two significant dates in our City's history: January 2 is the date in 1863 when Alexander Dechman filed the deed of the 1861 purchase of his land with the County of Dallas, and March 20 is the date in 1909 when Grand Prairie incorporated itself as a
City.
To hear more about the life of the man who started it all, attend the meeting on February 21 at the Grand Prairie Memorial Library at 11:30 a.m. in the Inspire Room.

Please invite family and friends!

Lunch: 11:30 a.m., catered by Jason’s Deli (sandwich, bag of chips and pickles) for $10.00
Please RSVP to to rsvp@gphistorical.com or president@gphistorical.com
