Celebrate Black History Month with the Grand Prairie Libraries with displays, book recommendations, and a finale free jazz concert at the Uptown Theater.

All Libraries have book displays featuring fiction, nonfiction, and children's books.

Featured Fiction Black History Month invites us to honor the voices that have shaped culture, challenged convention, and expanded the possibilities of storytelling. The works in this collection come from Black authors whose fiction spans eras, genres, and worlds—yet all share a commitment to illuminating the richness and complexity of Black life. This month is the perfect moment to explore them, revisit them, or discover them for the first time.

Featured Nonfiction Black History Month is a chance to engage more deeply with the stories, scholarship, and lived experiences that shape our understanding of the past and present. These nonfiction books highlight voices that illuminate overlooked histories, challenge assumptions, and celebrate the resilience and creativity of Black communities, offering meaningful insight and reflection.

An Evening with Count Basie

As we wrap up Black History Month, the Grand Prairie Library invites you to celebrate one of jazz's greatest legends - Count Basie. Enjoy a dynamic live performance by the Andrew Griffith Quintet featuring Gabby Byrd, whose smooth rhythms and rich harmonies bring Basie's timeless sound to life.

This free concert will be held at the Uptown Theater. The Theater is located at 120 E. Main St.
