3D prints are available for the cost of the filament and will be printed on ourPolyPrinter 229 3D printer, made possible by the Friends of the Library.
Request a 3D print by sending your file to library3dprinting@gptx.org. Remember to attach your project as an .STL file and include a phone number.
Once we've reviewed your file, we will contact you with a price estimate. The cost to print is 15 cents per gram of plastic.
We will contact you once your object is ready to be picked up You will have 7 days to pay for and pick up your object. Failure to pick up your object within the 7 days may result in a loss of future printing privileges.
Objects are printed on a first come first serve basis. We will do our best to get your object printed within 14 days.
Only staff can administer the printer and attached computer. Patrons may not change filament, attempt to clear jams, or in any way attempt to troubleshoot the printer or the attached computer.
All objects must have staff approval before printing begins. Final images of your object, or video or images during printing may be used on library promotional materials, social media, etc.
The printers may only be used for lawful purposes and for objects appropriate for a public library environment. Objects must not be illegal nor can they be construed as having the intent to harm. Objects must not infringe upon any 3rd party’s intellectual property rights.
Staff is not available to supervise prints or make modifications to jobs once they have started. Staff reserves the right to make changes to jobs based on quality, time required to print and nature of object.
Objects print in one color and will be printed in the color filament available at the time of printing.
WARNING: FAILURE TO USE EQUIPMENT PROPERLY MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY INCLUDING BURNS. DO NOT TOUCH ANY PART OF THE PRINTER WHILE IT IS PRINTING. While Grand Prairie Library staff makes every effort to oversee the use of 3-D printer, use of the equipment is not under continuous direction or control of the library staff. The Grand Prairie Library nor the City of Grand Prairie are not responsible for any object created with the use of the equipment, including harm or injury incurred as a result of usage of the equipment. If an object is printed that is illegal or beyond the purpose of the printer, the object could be confiscated, the operator’s use privileges could be permanently revoked, or the operator could be subject to prosecution.
