Lisa Van Gemert on “10 Best Practices for a Polished & Accurate Family Tree.”

Your family tree deserves better than guesswork and digital clutter. In this session, we’ll walk through ten essential practices every genealogist should use to keep your Ancestry or FamilySearch tree clean, credible, and truly useful.

You’ll learn how to avoid common pitfalls like blindly copying other trees or letting vague locations muddy your research. We’ll explore smart ways to document brick walls, mark hypotheses, and attach records properly (yes, everyone on that census needs it). From naming conventions to historical place accuracy, this session will leave you with practical strategies and a fresh perspective on your tree.

An avid family historian, she serves as a volunteer genealogist for the Daughters of the American Revolution and as a Lead Family History Consultant for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

You will note that the Grand Prairie GS meeting will be in person as well as virtual.

If you are planning to attend the meeting, it will be in the Inspire Room at the Grand Prairie Memorial Library, 901 Conover, Grand Prairie, TX.

There will be a Meet and Greet at 6:30 pm with the program beginning at 7:00 pm.  If you have any questions, please send an email to info@gpgstx.org

If you are planning to request a link to the Virtual or Zoom Meeting, please do so as soon as possible so that the link can be given to each person in a timely manner.
