The city of Grand Prairie offers language pay in order to better serve the community by ensuring that oral and written communication to non-English speaking citizens and employees is accurate and clear.

Full-time employees in eligible positions who demonstrate the necessary verbal and/or written fluency in languages other than English will receive additional compensation. Language pay will not be paid to an employee just because they are bilingual. The employee must be working in a position designated by the Department Manager and meet all criteria in this policy. Those eligible will receive $100 per month for oral and $150 per month for written and oral.
