The Traffic Signals, Street Lighting, and School Flasher program installs, maintains and operates Traffic Control devices in accordance with the Federal, State, and Local regulations in a proficient and courteous manner to ensure the safe and efficient mobility of the traveling public.

Responsible for maintaining the following:

  • Signalized Intersections - 163
  • School Zone Flashers - 135
  • Roadway Lighting - 582
  • Locates underground fiber wiring of the city and GPISD

Reporting Traffic Signal Problems 

To report a signal problem during normal business hours, call 972-237-8525 or submit request below.

To report a signal problems after hours, contact dispatch at 972-237-8400.

To make a request for new installations, contact the Transportation Department at 972-237-8139.

To report a street light out you may submit report online, send an e-mail or call 972-237-8525. (Most of the street light belong to the power company, but we can forward your request to them.)

To call in for emergency and regular Line Locates for Fiber and Traffic signals, call 972-237-8400.
