Stay fit this fall with free classes and events!

Fall is a great time to harvest a new routine to re-energize your workout. Create good habits for the holiday season by starting a fitness routine this fall. 

Consider attending these free events and get motivated!


September Events

Wake up with PiYo

Every Saturday in Sept. 
10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Main Library, 901 Conover Dr. 

Join us for this fun, free class combining Pilates and yoga to help you build strength, lose weight, increase flexibility and have a great time doing it.This free class is taught by Amy Pyles. 

Workout Wednesdays: Zumba

Every Wednesday through Nov. 20
6:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m.
Betty Warmack Library, 760 Bardin Rd.

Come make new friends and sweat during this free class!

 

Try It Tuesdays: Jazz Class for Adults

Every Tuesday in Sept.
6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Cyclin' with the Mayor

Thursday, Sept. 19
Meet at 6 p.m. - Ride at 6:30 p.m.
C.P. Waggoner Park, 2122 N. Carrier Pkwy

Come cycle with Mayor Ron Jensen! Rides are set at an easy pace. Bikes required. 


 

October Events

Try It Tuesdays: Camp Gladiator

Every Tuesday in October
6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Please note that this class takes place outside. Bring a yoga mat!

FIT for Health

For families with kids ages six and older.

Starts Tuesday, Oct. 1
4 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Betty Warmack Library, 760 Bardin Rd.

The FIT for Health program is for the entire family but oriented for parents with children 6+ years of age, (although younger children are welcome at the classes). FIT (Families In Training) FOR HEALTH, is a free 11-week healthy lifestyle program for families created by a grant funded by the National Institutes of Health. We meet once a week for 1.5 hours. The day of the week is determined by a campus parent liaison or principal. FIT incorporates additional programming elements designed to improve family dynamics through positive parenting techniques that motivates the youth to take ownership of their health by making healthier nutritional choices and increasing physical activity.

Farmers Market: Health Fair Day

Saturday, Oct. 5
8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Grand Prairie Farmers Market, 120 W. Main St.

Health Fair Day at Grand Prairie Farmers Market will include special educational resources in addition to farmers market vendors.

Strollin' with the Mayor "Pink Out"

Saturday, Oct. 19
8 a.m.
Farmers Market, 120 W. Main St.

Join Mayor Ron Jensen for Strollin' with the Mayor: Pink Out Walk. The stroll is a 2-mile casual pace walk in Downtown Grand Prairie. Come decked out in pink to help raise awareness about breast cancer!

After the walk, you can get information on family nutrition and breast cancer, and shop at Grand Prairie Farmers Market

Strollers and leashed dogs welcome. No registration required. Free event!
