2018 Christmas Ornament Sparkles

Custom-designed ornament is a holiday ornament tabletop tableau handmade by Rebecca Jensen, wife of Mayor Ron Jensen.

The annual custom-designed and hand crafted city of Grand Prairie holiday ornament is a tabletop tableau and handmade by Rebecca Jensen, wife of Mayor Ron Jensen.   Using natural materials from their Grand Prairie property, Mrs. Jensen assembled, painted, adorned, glittered and decorated each for the holidays.   Each glitter cone is $5 and Mason jar snow globes are $5 each.  All proceeds benefit the Lone Star Charitable Foundation, which grants money to Grand Prairie charities.  The ornaments may be purchased at:

  • City Hall, 317 College St. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Tourist Center, 2170 N. Belt Line Road, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday
  • Prairie Lights, 5610 Lake Ridge Parkway, 6-9 p.m., Nov. 22-Dec. 30
  • Lake Parks Administration Offices, 5610 Lake Ridge Parkway, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Friday
  • Farmers Market on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 120 W. Main St.

This is the 15th in a series of annual ornaments.  Also available for $5 each, discounted from their original price of $15 each, are ornaments as available from 2004 to 2017.

Available are the 2004 “Lone Star Park World Thoroughbred Championship Breeders’ Cup” ornament; the 2005 “I Love Grand Prairie” ornament; the 2006 “Starry Nights” ornament; the 2007 “Uptown Theater” ornament; the 2010 “Willow Tree in Central Park” ornament; the 2011 “Farmers Market” ornament; 2012 “All Things Grand Prairie” ornament; 2014 hand-made Victorian cone; 2016 tabletop tableau; 2017 Firehouse.  The 2008 “Prairie Lights”; 2009 “Centennial”; 2013 “Mrs. Ruthe’s Christmas Tree”; and 2015 “Peace” ornaments are sold out.

The ornament series was created by Janice England, wife of retired Mayor Charles England, as a way to celebrate Grand Prairie and raise funds for local charities.   Mrs. Jensen is continuing the tradition.  For more information, call 972-237-8369.
