The book is the passion project of a couple from Gainesville, retired 39-year Texas Peace Officer Doug Hutchison and his talented wife, freelance writer and photographer Carol. They wanted to use their retirement as a way to give back to law enforcement and support families of fallen officers. A portion of the profits from book sales will be donated to the Texas chapters of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), an organization that assists the families of fallen officers by offering them their own healing programs, law enforcement conferences and the peer support of other officers who have been through similar tragic events. A portion of the profits will also go to a hunting and fishing program for the children of fallen officers named the Great Fall Huntventure, sponsored by the Texas Game Wardens Association and the Tarrant Regional Water District Police.
