New Development Update (April 2018)
IKEA opened on December 13, 2017. The 293,000-square-foot store includes a 450-seat restaurant, 1,100 parking spaces, and adds 300 jobs to the city’s economy.
Whataburger has opened on a pad site in front of the Walmart on SH 161 and Pioneer Parkway. Panda Express, Chick-fil-A, El Pollo Loco, Starbucks and Chipotle are also expected to open on pad sites around the Walmart. A Courtyard by Marriott, Smoothie King, Jimmy John’s and Jason’s Deli are also planned on the SH corridor between Arkansas and Mayfield.
Harmony Public Schools plans to open a new campus at Fish Creek and Belt Line in 2018.
Hyatt Place will open a new 100-room hotel on I-20 and Hilton Tru will open a new 98-room hotel on North State Highway 360 by 2018. Staybridge will construct a 112-room hotel on Lake Ridge south of I-20.
Methodist Health System plans to open a new Convenient Care campus at Polo and Lake Ridge by 2018.
Emerus will open a 103,891-square-foot community hospital by 2018 on Kingswood Boulevard east of SH 360.
Avilla Village, a new 120-unit multi-family housing development, will open in January 2019 on Sara Jane and Forum Drive. The one-story units will include small, individual backyards. Construction will begin in early 2018.
Auto parts maker Flex N’ Gate has acquired a 430,000-square-foot new manufacturing facility on 1950 Bardin Road. The building is on 20.7 acres with $140 million in new equipment. The company plans to hire an additional 568 full-time manufacturing employees by the time the facility begins full production in 2020.
