Traffic Control Plans

Contractors must submit a Traffic Control Plan Application for review by the Transportation Department before beginning construction on the following:

  • Capital Improvement Project
  • Franchise Utility Project
  • Private Development Project
  • Public Works Project
  • TxDOT Project

Step 1.Review Requirements

Traffic Control Plan Applications require the following:

  • PW Project # or CSJ # (only if applicable)
  • Project information including the nature of work, project name, nature of work, inspector name, Traffic Control Plan start date, estimated completion date, location
  • Contact information for property owner, contractor, project manager
  • Detailed barricade plan, specific to project site conditions (uploaded with the application)
  • NTTA Approval (if work is being done on NTTA right of way)
  • TxDOT Approval (if work is being done on TxDOT right of way)

Step 2.Apply Online

You can apply online for Traffic Control Plans through the City of Grand Prairie's Customer Self-Service portal. First time users will need a valid email address to set up an account. It takes about 5 minutes to create a new account.

What happens next?

After completing the online application, permits are processed in approximately four business days. Depending on updates needed from the applicant, as this can result in longer approval times.

You are welcome to call or visit in person for help submitting your online application. Online applications are preferred, but you also have the option to submit a paper version of the Traffic Control Plan Application(PDF, 136KB) in person.
