Franchise Utility Notification Permit

The Engineering Division is responsible for developing standards and issuance of permits to franchised utility companies (electric, telephone, gas, cable TV, etc.) that use city right-of-way or easements for installation of their facilities. The Engineering Division ensures installation of franchised facilities are correctly located within the right-of-way and that the right-of-way is restored to acceptable condition.

Step 1.Review Requirements 

A city released Traffic Control Plan shall be required for any lane closures, and submitted with the notification. More information on requirements is listed on the Franchise Utility Notification Form(PDF, 236KB)

Step 2.Apply 

Fill out the Franchise Utility Notification Form(PDF, 236KB) and email it to calvarez@gptx.org (972-237-8014) or deliver to the Engineering Department.

Step 3.What happens next?

After completing the online application, permits are processed in approximately 3-5 business days. Depending on updates needed from the applicant, as this can result in longer approval times.

There is no fee for a Franchise Utility Notification.
