Residential Fencing Requirements

All fence replacements require an approved building permit. This includes replacements from old to new, panel sections and newly erected fences.

Fencing and screening walls must be sound and made from acceptable fence materials. 

Allowable residential fencing materials that may be used are wood, masonry, chain link, wood slats, and wrought iron. Materials not allowed are R-Panel, metal and plywood.

They must be weather tight and free from deterioration and blight.

Fences in residential zones cannot be higher than three feet in the front yard and eight feet in the rear yard.
