2024 Top Priorities and Goals

  • Continue the revitalization of Downtown.
  • Develop an Infrastructure Master Plan to consist of:
    • Attainable housing south of SH287 and the north side of GPMURD
    • Transportation/bridges
    • Fiber optics in low-income areas throughout Grand Prairie
    • Creating jobs
    • Higher Education
  • Provide incentives as needed to attract more independent, unique retail stores throughout Grand Prairie.
  • Fund and build a multi-cultural center.
  • Increase diversity in city contracts and planning projects.
  • Fund and build a pickleball complex.
  • Fund future phases of Turner Park renovation.
  • Work to attract more grocery stores, particularly in "food desert" areas. 
  • Seek affordable housing for middle-income earners to attract key workers vital to the area's success.
  • Pursue stronger green energy initiatives and maintain green space during development. 

2023

Amplify

  • Open six restaurants in EpicCentral
  • Debut water and light show in EpicCentral
  • Complete construction of two connecting hotels and convention center in EpicCentral
  • Create redevelopment plans for Turner, Tyre and Mi Familia parks
  • Welcome Hobby Lobby, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games (2023); Bass Pro Shops (2024); Big Shots Golf (2023)
  • Enjoy Major League Cricket in the newly renovated cricket stadium

Advance

  • Finish Camp Wisdom widening
  • Launch a new City App
  • Introduce ability to text for information
  • Plan for a Fire Station 11 and a new Emergency Operations Center
  • Debut at Block Party trailer available for residents to check out
  • Create a Tool Lending program to provide tools residents need for home and yard maintenance
  • Complete 11-acre cell construction at landfill
  • Remodel the Main Library entry and lobby

Improve

  • Select new utility billing software
  • Complete connection of Seeton Road from Mira Flores to day Miar roads
  • Start construction of Stadium Drive from Tarrant Road to the I-30 frontage road
  • Build Dechman Drive from Westchester Parkway to Edgeview Drive
  • Begin Uptown Theater phase 2 of renovations
  • Partner Shotwell Life Center with Grand Prairie Independent School District to start a universal sports skills program that will enhance the skill level of students playing all sports
