The Grand Prairie Police Department is excited to introduce our newest community initiative, the Senior Safety Program, launching January 2016. The Safety Program is designed to assist senior adults in maintaining a safe and independent living environment. The initial focus of the program will be seniors, age 60+, already enrolled in the Meals On Wheels program. Volunteers, trained by GPPD, will provide educational information for participants in the area of fall prevention, avoiding scams aimed at seniors, and information regarding other city and county resources available to them. In addition, these volunteers can also install key lock boxes and smoke alarms at no cost to eligible participants. Information regarding participating seniors, such as health issues or other special needs, will be maintained within the 911 system for the awareness of emergency responders if called to that residence. The Grand Prairie Police Department is proud to offer this new initiative in our continuing effort to provide a safe environment for all, with a high quality of life.
