Get Fit Mayor’s No Frills 5K and Chase the Chiefs 1-mile Run

2017 Mayor's Get Fit 5K Map 

Join Mayor Ron Jensen for a 5K (stroll, walk or run) through downtown Grand Prairie, or for a shortened route join the Grand Prairie Police and Fire chiefs for a 1-mile "Chase the Chiefs" fun run at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017. This is a fun “no frills” event with no race numbers and no cost (except for optional Dri-FIT shirt - $5 for kids and $10 for adults).

Race Day Activities

Location: Corner of Center and Main streets, Grand Prairie, TX 75050

8:30 a.m. – 5K and “Chase the Chiefs” 1-Mile Fun Run
After Run/Walk – Get Fit partners present refreshments and educational booths at the finish line to participants.
8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Opening Day of the 2017 Grand Prairie Farmers Market season just down the street at Market Square, 120 W. Main St.

Registration and Event Shirts

No pre-registration is necessary to participate in the run/walk, but you must:

  1. Print out and bring a signed copy of the event waiver on race day (download waiver) or arrive early on race day to fill out the waiver before the event.
  2. To purchase a special Dri-FIT shirt with the event logo, pre-order your shirt online by March 20 ($5 for kids and $10 for adults). Bring your payment (cash or check) on race day or pay on the phone at 972-237-8055.

Team Challenges

School Challenge: Support your school and community! Sign your school up as a team of students, parents, friends and teachers. The top three schools with the most number of participants will receive:
1st Place $500
2nd Place $300
3rd Place $200

Packet Pickup: Pick up your school team’s race packet between noon and 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, at the Parks, Arts and Recreation Administration Building, 400 College Street.

Corporate Wellness Challenge: Support your business and community! Co-workers may sign up as a team. The top three corporate teams with the most number of participants will receive team plaques.

Packet Pickup: Pick up your corporate team’s race packet between noon and 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, at the Parks, Arts and Recreation Administration Building, 400 College Street.
