Christmas Trees

Recycling drop-off locations for your tree (beginning Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 -Monday, Jan. 12, 2015) will be at:

  • Charley Taylor Recreation Center parking lot, 601 E Grand Prairie Rd, Grand Prairie, TX 75051
  • Parkhill Park parking lot, 5100 Block of S. Robinson Rd., Grand Prairie, TX 75052
  • Grand Prairie Landfill, 1102 MacArthur Blvd., Grand Prairie, TX 75050

Please remove all ornaments, stands and plastic bags from the tree. Artificial trees or trees sprayed with artificial snow cannot be accepted for recycling. Acceptable trees will be recycled into mulch. Free mulch is available at the landfill to all Grand Prairie residents. Trees are also collected on your normal garbage collection day. However, these trees will not be recycled into mulch but will be collected as garbage. Call 972-237-8061 for more information.

How can I recycle electronics?

  • Drop off electronics at Grand Prairie Landfill in the area designated for electronics. (This service is free for Grand Prairie residents with valid proof of residence.) View landfill location and hours of operation.
  • Drop off electronics at one of the city’s electronics recycling events hosted twice a year. The next event will be on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Development Center, 206 W. Church St, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.

All computer manufacturers are required to offer recycling options for equipment they produce. Instead of bringing computers to the Grand Prairie Landfill, citizens can recycle for free through the computer manufacturer:


  • Televisions can be dropped off at the Grand Prairie Landfill free of charge for residents who bring the top portion of their current water bill.
  • Residents can also go to to find options for television recycling, either by brand name or through the Recycling Leadership Program that accepts any brand of television.

Light Bulbs

The following retailers accept light bulbs for recycling:

  • IKEA – Drop off light bulbs at IKEA's Recycling Center located by Returns and Exchanges.

Light Bulbs – Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFL)

  • IKEA – Drop off CFLs at IKEA's Recycling Center located by Returns and Exchanges.
  • Home Depot – Customers may drop off expired, unbroken CFL bulbs at the returns counter of any Home Depot store.
