UPDATE: The October 2014 class is full. Check back in 2015 for the next class to be scheduled.
The Grand Prairie Police Department is offering Grand Prairie female residents ages 13 and older free basic self-defense training 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Oct. 6-9, 2014. Space is limited for the four-session course at Charles V. England Public Safety Training Complex, 310 College St., and participants must register at www.grandprairiepolice.org/RADS by Sept. 26, 2014.
The internationally recognized Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) system of training is designed to equip women with practical techniques for successfully defending themselves if ever attacked.
While the program is offered free of charge, donations are welcome and appreciated, which will go to Brighter Tomorrows – a local agency that empowers victims of domestic violence and sexual violence by providing safe shelter and support services.
