The 5th Annual Sgt. Gregory L. Hunter Remember The Fallen Memorial Golf Tournament will take place Friday, Oct. 5, at Tangle Ridge Golf Club, 818 Tangle Ridge Drive. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. A Shotgun start will sound at 8 a.m. and will be followed by breakfast, lunch, awards, raffle and silent auction.
The "Sgt. Gregory L. Hunter Remember The Fallen" Memorial Golf Tournament has benefitted non-profit charities such as the Texas Peace Officers Memorial Foundation, Guns and Hoses Foundation of North Texas, MADD, Santa Cop, and the Sgt. Gregory L. Hunter Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which awards (2) $1,000 scholarships annually. This scholarship foundation was founded by Sgt. Hunter's widow, Denise, and their daughter, Erin, after Sgt. Hunter was tragically murdered by an armed fugitive on Friday, June 18, 2004. To date, $14,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
Sgt. Hunter’s memorial golf tournament is sponsored by the Grand Prairie Police Benevolent Association, registered in the state of Texas as a non-profit corporation and is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, Tax ID# 26-2910019.
The registration deadline for the 4-Man Scramble is Oct. 1, and there is a registration fee of $90. Registration covers green fees, the cost of balls, a cart, breakfast and lunch, drink tickets and goodie bags. Mulligans will also be available for purchase. The tournament will also feature a silent auction, raffle prizes, prizes at each Par 3, a longest drive, closest to the pin contest, and much more.
