Grand Prairie Police Department's Detective Deidra Frazier and Senior Office Assitant Laurisa Escobedo were recently awarded the "Exploring Leadership Award" from the Learning for Life Organization.
The Learning for Life Organization is a national program designed to support schools and community based organizations in their efforts to prepare youth to successfully handle the complexities of contemporary society and to enhance ther self-confidence, motivation and self-esteem.
Both Deidra and Laurisa have made academic learning fun and relevant to real-life situations. As a result, several youths are more self-confident as a result of the “hands on” career experiences both Deidra and Laurisa have instilled in them through the Explorer program.
“The Grand Prairie Police Department is extremely proud of Deidra and Laurisa for their tireless efforts and commitment to mentoring our youth," said Police Cheif Steve Dye. "These two ladies genuinely care for these young adults and understand the importance of their development toward becoming productive citizens and future leaders in our society.”
