“BEAT THE HEAT” – HAVE YOUR FEMALE CAT SPAYED FOR $20
GRAND PRAIRIE— “Beat the Heat” and have your female cat spayed for just $20, which includes a rabies vaccination. This is a special offer from the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter and the Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project (KCAAP). Call 972-472-3500 or visit www.spayneuternet.org to make an appointment and bring your female cat to the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter, 2222 W. Warrior Tr., on Feb. 4 between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. She will be taken to KCAAP to be spayed and can be picked up 3-4 p.m. that same afternoon at Prairie Paws. Hurry! There are only 70 openings.
Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population. While some worry that their pet may be too young for this procedure, spaying and neutering is safe for kittens as young as eight to 10 weeks old. And, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, spaying a female cat before the first heat cycle is actually beneficial, rather than waiting until after one heat cycle has occurred. The procedure is known to improve the health of the pet, including a reduced risk of certain reproductive cancers and infections.
This service is brought to you by the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter’s ongoing partnership with KCAAP and PetSmart Charities.
