Cantos Y Cuentos Para Toda La Familia - Songs and Stories For The Whole Family: A Dia de los Ninos Program

Award-winning bilingual storyteller and musician Sue Young will be entertaining families with free performances at two Grand Prairie Public Libraries on Tuesday, April 30.

  • 5 pm at the Bowles Branch Library.
  • 7 pm at the Warmack Branch Library.

She has been called a “Spanish language Raffi” and a “storyteller extraordinaire“. Sue grew up in a big, music-loving family. She started on ukulele at age 8, moved to guitar at 11, and has been singing and playing ever since. The Youngs moved around, but mainly lived out west- in Seattle, Salt Lake City and Albuquerque. Sue fell passionately in love with Latin American music and culture after spending a year studying in Ecuador and traveling around South America. She began performing in clubs around this time and continued after returning to the States. Sue moved to Austin, Texas in 1985 to be part of the live music scene. She wound up teaching music and Spanish to children and that led to a new career as a children’s songwriter and storyteller. Sue has performed for thousands of kids throughout Texas and around the US. Sue’s latest CD release, “Gliding” received a 2013 Texas Music Awards nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year.
