Charles England, former Mayor of Grand Prairie, was honored with a life-size sculpture unveiled at a ceremony before the December City Council Meeting.
The sculpture commemorating his 21 years of service as mayor will be permanently installed outside of Grand Prairie City Hall, 317 W. College St. The bronze sculpture was commissioned and funded by the Grand Prairie Sports Facility Development Corporation, which England previously served as board member and president.
England stated that the sculpture unveiling was one the proudest moments of his 62 years in Grand Prairie. "I hope people look back and think the city is a little bit better than when he got here," he said. "I hope that is my legacy.”
